At St. John the Baptist Catholic School, we believe music is an essential part of each student's total educational experience. From preschool through grade eight, students are engaged in a variety of musical experiences, all of which are designed to foster their spiritual, emotional, physical, social, and intellectual development. These experiences include: the singing of both sacred and secular selections of music; performing music on a variety of instruments, both alone and with others; reading and notating music; listening to, analyzing and describing different types of music; improvising and composing; understanding music in relation to history and other cultures. Music at St. John the Baptist Catholic School is an opportunity for students to express both their creativity and individuality, as well as experience the joy of making music as part of a community.
